I wanted to complete my contracts prior to the end of the game. However, it only let me complete just the one contract, not the other, when I had a total of 9 x jade.

According to the rules, you are supposed to be able to use jade in place of other resources for the purpose of completing contracts. This only worked with the one contract, not the other, when I had sufficient resources including the jade to complete both contracts.
