You should give the round #.
I guess that was around #85
I can see the button to scrap ships in the replay.
Did you see it during play ?
Where you asked to select a ship when clicking it ?
Did you try to select a ship before clicking on this ? (I don't know how it's supposed to work as I have never felt the need to do that exchange)

This happened to me too. At the end of several of my turns I wanted to do Trade and spend 1 Ore to turn a Ship into a Worker. I was prompted to pick the ship I wanted to Decommission and no matter which ship I picked nothing happened. A new button also appeared after selecting the action and I tried selecting the ship both after or before clicking on that button but again nothing happened and the button just disappeared. My turn did not end though. I just wasn't able to Trade and was FORCED to do Production instead.

It's really unclear that you have to click the Trade action multiple times in order to line up all the trades before actioning them. If that could be explained, that would be really helpful. Clearly I'm not the only person who got confused by this!

I was able to figure it out from the notes above, but I agree that the methodology is extremely confusing.

After trying to turn ship into man and hatching man from chest, but being unable to because of no chests, I started selection over and it wouldn’t accept selection of ship to turn into man. Cancelling resource trade and starting over, it let me. This happened on my first move of 06NO21 after using Plasma Cannon.

I am experiencing this RIGHT NOW: Table ID: 251042748, Move 122.

I just finished colonizing Laland 21185. It took me straight to this:
I pick the one trade I want to do (decommission a ship). The button shows up in the next row. I select a ship (1, in Deep Space). I click Confirm. It gives me the error message: Select the <ship icon> to decommission.

Side note, it didn't ask me about production. What if I wanted to do one of the others first?)

Check the logs -- you've already done the others first.

The message you've indicated only appears when you have fewer ships selected than the number of ship decommissions you've indicated. Double-check that you've selected a ship (it will be outlined in red instead of blue).

I _was_ unable to select something. I was seeing the thing blue line including the "hover panel", and thinking that was the selection. With exactly one ship to be decommissioned, I could not select ANYTHING and get a red border. When I refreshed the web page, it actually allowed me to select a ship

We just had the same issue. It was impossible for my friend to do any other actions for the rest of the game since he had no more population and no more supply cubes available, so this completely ruined the game for us :(

He could select the trade action, but could not select the ships to decommission.

We consistently found that if our ships were not in a shipyard, we could not decommission them.

In particular, we were not able to decomission ships in Deep Space.

The ships in a shipyard, however, we were able to decommission.

This has happened now to me, too.
End of turn, choose Resource Exchange, select pay 1 rock to turn a ship into a person, but then it has no way for me to select the ship to convert.

All my ships are over worlds, not at any shipyards, which aligns with what pnkfelix has noted.

So following earlier comments, cancelling "resource Trade" then selecting it again, then selecting the ships _first_, I could then choose convert-to-people and it worked. _Very_ poor interface sequence for that.
