However, that URL did not seem to exist, or the webserver at en.8.boardgamearena.com was not accepting connections. If I removed the ".8" from the domain name, I could see the game, but I was a spectator in the game and could not play (first I was Visitor-318423753 and later I was Visitor-718569489, see second screen shot). Meanwhile I also kept getting red messages saying something like "unable to connect to the server; are you sure you are connected to the internet?". Naturally, I was connected to the internet.

Fortunately my opponent was gracious enough to agree to abandon the game.

I play on BGA quite often and this particular error has not happened to me before.
