Played work permit and expected to get an extra person for the next three rounds as I had >6 resources in supply. Never got those people.
Once I built 2 more rooms I was able to use "wish for children" in the normal manner and got up to 4 people.
After building a 5th room I was never able to get that person as I couldn't use any of the 3 "wish for children" spaces.
My game board showed 5 people but I couldn't use the 5th and didn't get points for it at the end. -

we did get a lot of error messages regarding the interface and the time lag was significant; happened with actions throughout the game and affected both players

Your bug has probably been fixed already, or was linked to a temporary failure of BGA service.
